Many people in the FI movement say they regret not starting sooner. We’re working hard to help the next generation get started earlier.

Students need financial skills and training to be ready for life after graduation.

We teach skills like how to:

  • Determine needs versus wants.
  • Delay gratification.
  • Put together a budget.
  • Avoid debt.
  • Maximize savings.

But here’s the rub. Many students aren’t getting any of this much-needed training.

According to the Council for Economic Education 2018 Survey of the States, only 17 states require high school students to take a course in personal finance. Learn More.

And even in the states where some form of personal finance is taught, only 7 require some kind of testing. Seven. We think we can help.

We’ve partnered with educators to design an online curriculum for students K-12 that features financial literacy and financial independence concepts. Then we built an online FI Academy to share that curriculum with the world, for free. We start with fundamental financial literacy concepts at the elementary level. Then we build on those concepts at the middle school level with personal finance lessons. Finally, at the high school level, we help student unlock the full potential of financial independence.
