Nick True is a married twenty-something from Tennessee, who realized the power of personal finance from an early age. His parents often tell how he bought his own computer—at the age of 10. After squirreling away gift and chore money for several years, Nick presented them with a pile of cash and asked them to help him buy a Dell Inspiron 1100. Nick credits this small taste of financial success for teaching him that money is a tool that can be used to make an impact.
Nick's entrepreneurial spirit revealed itself early-on through his one-man candy shop in high school. Despite it being quite lucrative, this business came to an abrupt halt when the principal informed Nick that soliciting on campus was absolutely unacceptable.
But Nick quickly found a new business outlet in teaching piano lessons. It was through this venture that Nick realized his love of teaching.
Throughout college, Nick continued to teach piano lessons and used his spare time to read every personal finance related book he could get his hands on. It didn't take long for him to become the go-to guy for finance advice amongst his friend group.
After graduating with a Mechanical Engineering degree, Nick became increasingly aware of his lack of satisfaction with his chosen profession. Thankfully, he stumbled upon a few different blogs that exposed him to the world of online business. All of a sudden the puzzle pieces seemed to fit. Nick realized he could combine his passions of teaching and personal finance through an online business, and Mapped Out Money was born!
